At the Rennsport Reunion motorsport event in California on the Laguna Seca Raceway, Porsche unveiled its latest version of the 935. If you find that the car looks like the old Porsche 935/78 Le Mans race car nicknamed "Moby Dick", well it is quite normal since the new 935 was largely inspired. The car was named "Moby Dick" because of its white paint, its impressive width, but especially of its rear part. This high-performance Porsche is based on the latest 911 GT2 RS. On the other hand, almost the entire body is made of carbon fiber. "When we looked at the first sketches of this 935, it was pretty brave thinking," Porsche sales chief Detlev von Platen said. Under the rear cover of the 935 houses a 3.8L twin-turbo engine. Roughly, the mechanics are identical to the most recent 911 GT2 RS. This block develops 700 horsepower. Regarding the transmission, it is a PDK box. Special attention has been paid to the smallest details. Indeed, the gear lever is covered with wood, similar to other legendary cars of the brand such as the 917 and the Carrera GT. We also note that the carbon fiber steering wheel was borrowed from the 2019 911 GT3 R too. In the official photos, we note that it is decorated in the colors of Martini. To maximize safety on board, Porsche installed a safety cage and paired the racing seat with a six-point harness. A second bucket can also be added. "This is one of the most exclusive cars we’ve ever built and it’s based on our fastest street car at the moment. We gave our engineers and designers full freedom" said Frank-Steffen Walliser, Porsche's vice president for motorsports and GT Cars. If you want to add this piece to your collection, be quick. Indeed, Porsche will produce only 77 copies of this exceptional vehicle. We still don't have the price information of the Porsche 935 for the US market, but in the European market, this vehicle starts at €701,948 ($819,247), before taxes.
